‘Tis the season of giving, and in honor of the holiday spirit you may feel more motivated to give something back to the community. You might also already be thinking about your New Year’s resolutions, which may include some health and fitness goals. Fortunately, there are many ways to align these goals and give back while you get the exercise you need to stay healthy. Here are just a few ideas to explore.

Charitable Exercise Apps

There are several workout apps paired with corporate partners who facilitate charitable donations for miles logged on a walk, run, or jog. So, every time you work out, you will be doing good for yourself and for others. Some popular apps include Atlas, Charity Miles, and Walk for a Dog. The best part about all these apps is that you can join at any fitness level and start giving back from day one of your fitness journey.

Local 5K and Marathon Races

Many local 5K races, marathons, and fun runs are held to support charitable causes within the community. Participating in these races, you might be able to fundraise for the cause, and your entry fees will be primarily put toward the charity the race supports. Along with local, community-organized events, you can find some charitable run opportunities through nationwide organizations such Back on My Feet or Girls on the Run.

Charitable Apparel

Even gearing up for a workout can be done for a good cause. Many brands take part in a buy-one, donate-one program while others donate a portion of profits to charitable organizations. Bombas and Bic Bands are just two brands to explore when you are stocking up on new workout gear.
